A magnificent gold bracelet with three intaglios, c.1850-1870. The large center intaglio depicts superbly carved Strozzi Medusa on chalcedony. The two side intaglios portray two figures- An ancient Greek philosopher, Plato on the carnelian and an enigmatic figure on the bloodstone. The bracelet itself is a marvel of craftsmanship, displaying the meticulous handwork both in carving and the rich gold work. It is believed to have originated as a bespoke commission, with the center chalcedony Medusa dating from c.1780-1820. The harmonious interplay of three distinct stones is a testament to the maker's ingenuity, while the scale and proportions of the intaglios are perfectly balanced. The gold chain is flexible and smooth. The clasp is in good working order, and it closes with a good snap sound. The stones are set contoured for a comfortable fit on a wrist. Overall this piece is in great condition with the natural patina and warmth in gold.
