Victorian Cut Steel Necklace with Cross Pendant

Victorian Cut Steel Necklace with Cross Pendant

C.1860. A magnificently sparkling Victorian cut steel necklace. The necklace consists of 39 small floral plaques (three in one link) and a cross pendant with a tiny cut steel stud bale. It also has a round push button cut steel clasp, which is strong and secure.  Cut steel jewelry was introduced in the Georgian era around the mid-1700s. Made with polished steel-faceted studs, it was created to have a dazzling diamond effect. This necklace has been very well preserved with its original bright sparkle. There is no rust or damage. It is very wearable. The necklace lays beautifully around the neck. English in origin.
