This striking Victorian sterling silver wide link bracelet is composed of 18 beautifully etched panels. The double row of silver beads adorns each edge of the bracelet, which is flexible in movement, and includes a safety chain. The hinge shuts with a good snap, and the tongue has an engraved number sign of ‘49’.
The bracelet has the original English Diamond registration mark. During the period of 1842 to 1883, the British Patent Office issued a diamond-shaped mark along with the registration number when a design was registered. It was to protect the design from copying, to identify the type of material used, and the date of registration. The center mark of ‘Rd’ is the abbreviation for ‘Registered Design’. This bracelet shows ‘I’ for the metal class, ‘J’ for the year 1880, ‘R’ for the month of August, and 27 for the date: August 27th 1880. The bracelet looks very attractive when worn, and has been preserved very well without many signs of usage. It is great for stacking or simple solo wear.
