C.1883. This stunning Victorian wide sterling bangle shows finely engraved leaves on both side of the front panel under the buckle. The simple yet handsome buckle shows a single engraved line around the edge of the belt. The belt holes and the prong have been wonderfully simulated, and the curved bulge on the end of the belt contributes to the realistic look. A buckle was a popular motif in the Victorian period; it symbolized a meaning of fidelity in love, and loyalty in friendship. The bangle has 1883 Birmingham hallmarks, and is overall in great condition.
