C. 1790. An absolutely gorgeous and scarce Georgian solitaire sapphire ring. The origin/provenance of the stone is Ceylon (Sri Lanka), and it shows no gemological evidence of heat. The ring is set in high karat gold, and the shank is original to the ring. The sapphire measures approximately 10.3mm x 9.4mm. The foiled-back stone displays a luscious pastel blue color. A ring like this is highly sought-after among collectors: a pure Georgian dream. The stone has some surface wear, and the gold has the natural patina. Overall condition of the ring is very good. The ring accompanies AGL (American Gemological Laboratories) analysis report.
