C.1880. A stunning pair of Victorian Etruscan revival cameo drop earrings. The earrings feature exquisitely done carvings and gorgeous Etruscan revival details such as the granulations and the gold rope work. The pair has a classic design of teardrop bottom with the oval top. The motifs of gods and goddesses were very popular in this period, and this pair is a good example of a high quality 'Grand Tour' souvenir; it became a trend for young European aristocrats to visit Paris, Florence, Venice, and above all Rome to complete their classical education. Thus was born the idea of the Grand Tour. These earrings are comfortable and not heavy (6.0g & 6.3g). The gold tests slightly above 14k. Overall in great condition.
Total Drop: Approximately 2.45” (including the front wire)
